The Sixth Annual Drive Fore Literacy was our most successful event ever!

The sun hid from the golfers during the Drive Fore Literacy Golf Tournament on June 26, 2004 at the Dundee Resort.  Mother nature wet both the grounds and golfers with several downpours of rain.  With the accompanying fog, some golfers even wondered where the holes were from time to time.

Despite the difficult weather, 24 teams teed off in the Sixth Annual Drive Fore Literacy Golf Tournament.  At the end of the day, first place honours went to the team of Wilson Timmons, Trevor Beaton, Gerard Burke and Langdon Urquhart.  The Babin's Service Centre team were the low net winners for the tournament.

The tournament was followed by the Drive Fore Literacy Awards Banquet and Auction.  "This year's event was a successful one, actually the most successful event ever," says Literacy Coordinator and tournament organizer Millie Hatt.  "Despite the weather all registered teams participated, played all 18 holes and had a great time doing so."

The golf tournament is a successful fundraiser as well as key for promoting literacy throughout Richmond County.  Both individuals and businesses are supportive and generous with their donations for the tournament.  Funds raised go directly to support the operation of the Literacy Network and the many initiatives that are undertaken throughout the year, including awards and bursaries.
